Enough With News-vertising

I understand that we have become a society of marketers, and the prevailing wisdom is to promote your business whenever and wherever possible. In terms of the broadcast medium, I can accept product placements and almost any awkwardly placed plug or promotion. Unfortunately, I am having increasing difficulty with the blurring line between news and advertising.

A few years ago, this would have been a commercial. I’m not sure how this qualifies as news. Anyone think CBS covered this breaking story? Not picking on NBC, just the most recent example in an increasingly long and shameless line.
